Kyrin Lothandrien

Kyrin Lothandrien

Lord Consular of Silverymoon since 1374, and Lord Executor of the Silver Marches since 1377, Kyrin's history is one of great accomplishments and greater ambition. A former adventurer of the Company of the Sundered Hand, Kyrin became a war hero in the War of the Marches, and earned an enduring legacy amongst adventurers by featuring prominently in the slaying of the great dragon Elamalikros.

Kyrin is the current bearer of the Lothandrien Moonblade, which he personally recovered from the ruins of Mhilamniir, the seat of his family's lineage. While currently considered a lesser noble house of Evermeet, Kyrin means to move the power base of the Lothandrien family to Mhilamniir. He has invested considerably in the ruined city, and seen to the restoration of many of its ancient temples.

As Lord of Silverymoon, he has had some sway in the politics of the Silver Marches. He has personally raised armies amongst the willing soldiers, mercenaries, and adventurers of the marches, first in 1375 to Luskan (a doomed endeavor), and again in 1378 to Menzoberranzan. The latter expedition, known as the Elven Crusade, has seen a measure of success, in that it has conquered the once great drow city, though the holding of said city has proven immensely problematic.

Politically, Kyrin's power is somewhat vague. As Lord Executor, he is foremost among Lord Hope Helm's Council of Lords, an elected position for which the prerequisite is the lordship of a member state of the Silver Marches, which he has. The Lord Executor is a second-in-command of sorts, tasked with the execution of the Lord Hope's will. That makes him something of a whip amongst the Lords, an outspoken voice of Helm's policies. However, he is quite outspoken on his own policies; he is much more hawkish than Helm, much more federalist, and far more vocal about his opinions. He himself hoped for the title of Lord Hope, and often insinuates that he might be faring better at it than his old friend Helm.

As Lord Consular of Silverymoon, Kyrin represents the will of the people within the newly-formed Assembly of the Free, an organization of democratic governance which succeeded Alustriel's direct rulership. The Assembly is comprised of any man or woman who chooses to serve, and the Lord Consular is merely an arbiter amongst their order. Technically, Taern Hornblade is the supreme Lord of the city, but his rulership is tempered by the Assembly's rulings. It is unclear what power Kyrin truly has in this arrangement, and, typically, he exercises none.

Of late, Kyrin has become wholly consumed in the Elven Crusade, obsessed with the notion of conquering the Underdark and purging the drow menace. His official position is that only by flushing all drow to the surface can they ever stand a chance at reformation and redemption. His extreme views are shared by many who gladly flock to his banner, but many others condemn his actions as inviting doom upon the Marches and upon all elvendom.

Titles and Deeds

  • Lord Consular of Silverymoon. This is an elected title, and not equivalent to any rank of foreign peerage.
  • Marquis of Mhilamniir for the purposes of the Silver Marches. The city itself is mostly self-governed, but Kyrin does have considerably say in their matters.
  • Baron of the Lothan Marches, a courtesy title due to his mother's position as Countess of said province.
  • Legion of Honor of the Silver Marches, an honored Knight of the Realm.
  • Professor Emeritus: tenured professor of Arcana at the Lady's College in Silverymoon.
